Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Stafford Girl Fails to Post High Bond

The main remained in custody after his arraignment at Rockville Superior Court.

STAFFORD/VERNON, CT — A 27-year-old accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old in Stafford for a sustained period of time remained in custody Tuesday afternoon after failing to post a high bond at his arraignment in Rockville Superior Court.

The case of Timothy Miceli, whose listed address is 37 River St., Lisbon, but had moved in with his girlfriend on Park Street in Stafford, was transferred to the Part A docket, which is reserved for the most serious of crimes, a clerk at the court said. He was arrested on Friday and charged with first-degree sexual assault on someone unable to consent and risk of injury to a child, according to an arrest report.

Miceli's bond was initially set at $750,000 bond. It was reduced to $400,000 (cash/surety, only to be paid at the court) and he failed to post it, a clerk at court said. He is being represented by a public defender, a clerk at the court said.

The incidents had been taking place for several months, according to an arrest report.

Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad out of Troop C in Tolland then began investigating, according to an arrest report. The girl had initially told a therapist about the sexual assaults, according to an arrest warrant. State police and the girl's mother were then notified, state police said.

In August, Miceli had moved into the Stafford residence and began watching the girl while the girl's mother was at work, according to an arrest warrant. The two began having sex a month earlier, according to an arrest report.

The girl was eventually examined with a rape kit at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, according to an arrest warrant.
