Man Accused Of Taking Pot During Vernon Break-In: Report

A man is accused ot stealing marijuana after breaking into a Vernon home.

VERNON, CT — A man is accused of busting his way into a Vernon residence and taking 5 ounces of marijuana, according to a police report.

Johnny Montanez, 36, of Vernon, was charged with third-degree burglary, possessing a controlled substance and third-degree criminal mischief for the Sept. 30 incident, according to a report.

At 4:59 p.m. that day, Vernon police were told by a Prospect Street resident that her house was broken into. Montanez was found at an area address and admitted to forcing his way into the Prospect Street residence and stealing the pot, which tipped the scales at 5 ounces after he surrendered it, according to a report.
