Man Accused Of Trying To Induce Police Chases Arrested In Vernon
State police followed the man initially for a faulty license plate.

VERNON, CT — A 28-year-old Hartford man state police say has been involved in several chases dating back to the spring was arrested after a similar incident in Vernon Saturday, according to an arrest report.
At 10:16 p.m. on Dec. 14, a state trooper observed a vehicle with an "improper" registration plate traveling "recklessly" through several side streets in the Rockville section of Vernon, according to an arrest report.
Troopers followed the vehicle until it parked at a residence on High Street and took the driver — 28-year-old Xavier Abner — into custody, according to an arrest report. Abner was then identified as a suspect in a series of pursuits in the Vernon area during the spring and fall of this year, according to an arrest report.

In addition to registration, obstructed windshield and insurance violations, Abner was charged with:
- Reckless driving
- Disobeying the signal of an officer
- A stop sign violation
- Second-degree reckless endangerment
