Man Pulled from River at Vernon Wildlidfe Preserve

Rescue crews responded to an incident at a Vernon nature preserve over the weekend.

VERNON, CT — A man was pulled from the Tankerhoosen River over the weekend after falling from a bridge at a Vernon nature preserve, police said.

The accident took place at at 12:52 p.m. Sunday at the Belding Wildlife management Area, police said.

The man fell off a bridge and landed about 6 feet down into the Tankerhoosen, police said. The man was "injured but conscious" and was rescued from the water by police, firefighters and EMS crews and transported to Hartford Hospital, police said.
