Man's Death In Vernon Double-Shooting Ruled A Suicide
How one half of a Vernon couple died in a double-shooting last week has not been announced, but a man shot himself, state officials said.

VERNON, CT — One half of the double-shooting incident in Vernon last last week has been ruled a suicide while the other official cause of death is not being released, pending further study.
That was the word from the Connecticut Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner Thursday.
At at 5:43 p.m., Friday, officers and detectives responded to a report of two untimely deaths at 21 Vinetta Drive. When they entered the home, investigators located 61-year-old Anthony Priester and a 60-year-old Karen Priester dead from gunshot wounds, police said.

Anthony Priester's wounds were determined to be self-inflicted, according to the medical examiner's office. The medical examiner's office did not mention a timetable for a possible determination on how Karen Priester was shot and killed.
This investigation is ongoing and Vernon Police Department detectives are continuing to work with the medical examiner.

There was never a threat to the public, police said.
