Mansfield Drive-In Opens Thursday, Marketplace Plans Easter Egg Hunt

MANSFIELD, CT — The Mansfield Drive-in Theatre will open for the season Thursday, April 2, with current movies and classic favorites, while Mansfield Marketplace is planning an Easter Bunny visit and egg hunt Sunday, April 5.

The drive-in will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday through mid-June, according to the announcement, and then every night in the summer. The theater has three screens, with double features on each screen, and movies start at 8 p.m. The announcement also says there will be a special Thursday opening this week for i98 Night.

The Mansfield Drive-in Theatre has been operating since 1954. The announcement says visitors can arrive early to use the snack bar and playground. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.MansfieldDriveIn.com or at the gate. The Easter Sunday event at Mansfield Marketplace begins with the Easter Bunny arriving at 9:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt on the playground is scheduled for 10 a.m. sharp for children 12 and younger.

General manager Naomi Jungden said, “Last year we had a great turnout for our Easter egg hunt! This year we will have even more eggs filled with candy, and a special area for smaller children ages 4 and under! “

After the egg hunt, the Easter Bunny will be available for photos with people of all ages until 11 a.m., according to the announcement. There is no charge for the egg hunt or photos, but parking at the flea market costs $3 per car.

Mansfield Marketplace is open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., indoors and outdoors, rain or shine, including holidays, according to the announcement. The marketplace describes itself as the largest flea market in eastern Connecticut and says vendors and shoppers are welcome to thrift, treasure hunt and bargain.

The announcement says vendors who want to reserve space by the month can call 860-456-2578. Vendors who want to set up for one day can arrive any Sunday as early as 7 a.m.
