VERNON, CT — A mysterious masked driver is facing a number of charges after a traffic stop in Vernon, police said.

The incident took place Friday, police said.

According to an arrest report, at 5:40 p.m., officers encountered a green Honda Accord with two masked people inside straddling the center yellow line on Route 30. When a traffic stop was attempted, the Honda accelerated and ran from the scene, according to an arrest report.

The Honda and its 33-year-old local driver named Jesus Colon, were located a short time later on Prospect Street, according to an arrest report. He had no license, the car was uninsured, unregistered and a misused plate, according to an arrest report.

He was also charged with engaging police in a pursuit, interfering with police and failure to drive in the proper lane, according to an arrest report.

He posted a $10,000 bond and is slated to appear in Rockville Superior Court on March 3, records show.
