VERNON, CT — A mysterious traveling road show has been making the rounds on the streets of Vernon spreading good cheer in the form of sports balls being tossed onto front lawns.

A few began showing up on Thursday.

One white baseball carried the message "All Stars," among others. It wound up on a lawn in the north end of town.

A softball was even thrown on the Patch editor's lawn with the message — gasp — "We like your articles."

A Facebook group called Vernon Balls of Sunshine is highlighting the messages. The site is "for people who have gotten mystery softballs and baseballs to share their special messages."
