VERNON, CT — A mother and children declared missing in Connecticut have turned up in Virginia, Vernon police said.
Vernon Police Department spokesman Lt. Rob Marra said Anjaknie Roundtree called the local police headquarters at 9 p.m. Sunday night to say she and the children were safe.
She was at a motel in Virginia, Marra said.

A Silver Alert was issued Friday for the 36-year-old Roundtree and and her two children — 4-year-old Tykeese Palmer and 2-year-old Chloe Palmer. They were reported missing Thursday. The announcement created a social media frenzy, Marra said.
Marra said a representative for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families initially alerted Vernon police to the family being absent. Roundtree had last been seen Tuesday in the area of Grove Street in Vernon. She was seeking a ride to a Manchester hotel, police said.

She and her two children eventually left the area on foot, police said.
Police said Roundtree is known to use public transportation to get around, usually with a double-stroller. Roundtree had previously gone to Virginia in February to apply for jobs and apparently went back there, Marra said.
Marra said Vernon police are working with Virginia's Child and Families Department representatives to assure the children are safe.
