More Charges On Vernon Man For Bad Behavior Toward Women

A 68-year-old Vernon man has now been charged five times since the summer for behavior toward women, records show.

VERNON, CT — A 68-year-old Vernon man accused of forcing himself on women on four occasions at a local bank has been arrested again, this time for an incident at a doctor's appointment, police said.

Dwight Barrows was charged Thursday with second-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree breach of peace, police said.

He us accused of hugging a nurse and kissing her on the neck at a doctor's appointment, then holding onto her as she tried to push him away, according to an arrest report. He was held on a $25,000 bond with a Friday court date.

It was the fifth time since the summer that Barrows was arrested for such incidents.

The other four involved complaints from women at the Key Bank branch, 348 Hartford Turnpike, police said. Barrows is accused of inappropriately touching women at the bank and not allowing them to leave the bank's vestibule, police said.

On Aug. 31, he was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, second-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree breach of peace.

Police said more women came forward after his arrest was made public and he was charged twice with third-degree sexual assault on two warrants and for third-degree sexual assault and second-degree unlawful restraint on a third. The warrants were served on Oct. 18.

Barrows was initially being held on $85,000 worth of bonds, but that total was wiped out and replaced by a promise to appear in court during his arraignment.

He is due back in court on March 24, judicial system records show.
