Motorcycle Driver Hurt In Collision With Pickup Truck In Vernon

Police have releases details of a Wednesday crash involving a pickup truck and motorcycle.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police Thursday released some details on a serious motorcycle crash that took place the previous morning.

The crash took place a 7:57 a.m. Wednesday near 94 West Street.

According to a police report, the crash involved a 2001 GMC Sierra operated by Edmar Martins, 36, of Hartford. Martins and his passengers were uninjured in the crash. The motorcycle was a 2012 Harley Davidson operated by Brian Ortiz, 26, of Enfield. Ortiz was transported via Life Star helicopter to an area hospital and he was listed in stable condition Thursday morning, police said.

Vernon Police, with the assistance of Metro Traffic Services accident reconstruction team, are looking into the crash. No charges have been filed as of Thursday afternoon, but it remains an active investigation, police said.
