National Title Celebration Relatively Mild On UConn Campus
The celebration at UConn following Monday's sixth men's basketball title was calm compared to last year.

STORRS, CT — The celebration on the court in Arizona was arguably more raucous that that of the revelry on campus Monday night following the University of Connecticut's sixth national men's basketball championship.
Well ... at least compared to the partying after the 2023 title.
The Huskies' won their second straight and sixth overall title Monday with a 75-60 win over Purdue.

After the final whistle, thousands of UConn students and others on the Storrs flooded the campus and began the revelry.
But things were relatively calm compared to last year. Just five were arrested as of 1:15 a.m. and anyone familiar with the state police Troop C log and the UConn police log knows that can happen on any given weekend when classes are in session.

That number is in sharp contrast to the scene after last year's title game, during which 16 were arrested and 16 were sent to area hospitals.
The most serious offenses last year involved a flipped-over UConn Facilities Operations Department van, smashed windows and a 19-year-old woman from Trumbull being charged with reckless burning after she began spinning around while holding two "propellent cans" that were lit on fire, according to an arrest report.
One student was even caught atop a street light stanchion.
Some students were expelled in addition to being arrested as a result of the madness.
But on Tuesday, UConn officials were complimentary in an official statement:
"Thousands of UConn students and others on the Storrs campus celebrated an amazing Husky victory this evening and the vast majority did so respectfully, responsibly, and safely. There were some incidents of vandalism following the victory, but they were limited in number. As of 1:15 a.m., UConn Police made five arrests. On the whole, it was a very good night on the Storrs campus and the university looks forward to continuing to celebrate our phenomenal student-athletes, their coaches, and this incredible win. "
