VERNON, CT — The New England Civil War Museum and Research Center in Vernon staged a grand reopening ceremony Saturday to show off a new format that takes visitors through the entire experience of the war.

The museum is located on the second floor of Vernon's town hall in a fully preserved former Grand Army of the Republic Hall. The museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., excluding holidays. Admission is free.
