New Liquor Store Opens On Route 83 In Vernon

VERNON, CT — A new liquor store has popped up along Route 83 in Vernon.

And the emergence of Lazy Liquors at 212 Talcottville Road — the local address for that block of Route 83 — is the second choice of addresses for owner Jagdev Toor. The store has been in the works for more than a year, Vernon Economic Development Coordinator Shaun Gately said.

As far back as June 2020, Toor wanted to open up the liquor store at the strip shopping center to the west — 206 Talcottville Road — while also trying to acquire the plaza, Gately said. But in July 2020, Pro Health Physicians emerged at the anchor tenant for the plaza and its pediatric care unit opened there in March of this year.

Toor then turned to a small set of stores to the east at 212 Talcottville Road, Gately said. Toor could also renovate the property now that the liquor store is finally open, Gately said.

Toor also owns Toor Wine & Liquor at 406 Windsor Ave. in South Windsor.
