
VERNON, CT — Vernon has a new police officer.
Officer Cara Momnie was sworn in Monday morning. Momnie previously worked for the University of Connecticut Police Department. She was on the job at UConn for five years and attained the rank of sergeant.
She is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and is currently pursuing her Masters at University of New Haven.

VPD Chief James Kenny said Momnie is the 49th officer on the staff, one short of a full roster (the 51st position has been frozen for some time). Kenny said he does expect a veteran to retire soon.
