New Restaurant Featuring 'West African Flavors' Officially Opens In Vernon
Taste of African Cuisine was officially welcomed by the mayor Friday.

VERNON, CT — A new African restaurant has officially in opened Vernon.
Mayor Dan Champagne and members of the Vernon Town Council on Friday joined with the owners of the new Taste of African Cuisine at 200 Hartford Turnpike to celebrate the opening of their new restaurant, which features "west African flavors."
Mayor Champagne, joined by owners Irene Acheampong and Ernest Nyarko and family and friends, cut a ribbon to celebrate the grand opening.

The business is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

"Taste of African Cuisine cooks African food the way it's made at home: jollof, waakye, banku and fufu, with the soups and stews that go with them, from family recipes.
"Everything is cooked to order, with seasonings and staples from African markets. Pick it up on Hartford Turnpike, or have it delivered around Vernon."
