New Restaurant Officially Open For Business In Downtown Rockville

The halal restaurant at 13 West Main St. features fried and grilled chicken, steaks and subs, seafood, salads and gyros.

VERNON, CT — A new restaurant on Downtown Rockville is officially open for business.

Mayor Dan Champagne and members of the town council joined Shah Mehmood Popal and his wife Zamira Amini for a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebrate the opening of their restaurant Zach’s Chicken & Grill.

The halal restaurant at 13 West Main St. features fried and grilled chicken, steaks and subs, seafood, salads and gyros.

Zach's has filled a vacancy left by a former restaurant. It is within walking distance to Hartford HealthCare's Rockville campus, municipal offices and Rockville Superior Court.

It is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight.

Popal also owns a restaurant in Southbridge, MA.

The couple lives in Tolland.

Popal has owned the Southbridge restaurant since 2018 but worked there since 2011.The Rockville restaurant is named for the couple’s 13-year-old son Zach, who will eventually work in the restaurant.You can find the menu for Zach’s Chicken & Grill here: https://zachchickenandgrill.toast.site/order
