New Round Of Car Thefts, Burglaries Reported in Vernon

VERNON, CT — Vernon Police said they are investigating 17 vehicle thefts and burglaries reported since last Thursday.

The incidents have been reported in various areas of town, police said, including the Henry Park/South Street area, Vernon Center off just off Route 30, the 400 block of Lake Street and in Rockville.

Three vehicles were reported stolen:

• On Monday morning, a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the key FOB inside it was stolen from a home on Oxbow Drive.
• A Kia Sorento was taken from a Forestview Drive residence Saturday. The ignition FOB was in the vehicle, police said.
• A Toyota Highlander was taken from Lake Street, The FOB was in the SUV, police said.

Police on Monday reiterated their call to lock vehicles and disguise any cargo.

Rashes of car burglaries and thefts have plagued the area over the past several months.
