No More Bricks In The Walls For Burned-Out Factory In Vernon
Demolition work was drawing to a close Thursday morning at an old factory in Vernon ravaged by fire.

VERNON, CT — The last remnants of the old factory at 114 Brooklyn Street in Vernon were knocked to the ground by a demolition crew Thursday morning. The red brick building was destroyed by a raging fire Monday morning.
Vernon Fire Marshal Dan Wasliewski has been at the location daily and said Thursday morning that it could be "a while" before an exact cause is determined.
The fire broke out shortly before 2 a.m, Monday. The building was, at one point, totally engulfed in flames. Over the years, its uses included manufacturing baseballs and softballs, hosting a machine shop and storing furniture. See the detailshere.

Once the last bit of demolition debris is cleared, the property will be fenced off, Wasilewski said. The land and building were purchased by a Meriden-based holding company — JFC3 LLC — earlier this month, he said.
Environmental monitoring took place after the fire had been put out, but the results of that procedure were not completed by Thursday morning, Wasilewski said.
