Northeast Christians At Work celebrates 25th anniversary this week

Unique all-volunteer non-profit ministry has touched thousands of lives locally, regionally, nationally and internationally

This week, Northeast Christians At Work, based at 30 Lafayette Square in Vernon since its inception, is celebrating its 25th anniversary of grassroots, all-volunteer ministry. After several months of preparation, the non-profit organization was officially launched on February 3-5, 2000 during Congress 2000, a major regional Christian convention organized by Vision New England and held at the Hynes Convention Center in downtown Boston.

According to the group's founder, local business owner Drew Crandall, the organization's mission is to "joyfully make, motivate and mature Christians in the workplace" through the media, the Internet, special events and resources. Its initial geographic focus was New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In the mid-2000s, Called To Work, a workplace ministry based in Somerset, New Jersey, became part of Northeast Christians At Work. Since then, Called to Work has grown into a nationwide and international bilingual workplace ministry with speakers and materials in English and Chinese.

Through the years, other local ministries under the Northeast Christians At Work umbrella have included the Connecticut Alliance for Christian Arts, Creation Coalition of Connecticut, Jacob's Well Christian Coffeehouse and JesusFest. "This unique mix of ministry covering business, science and arts has touched thousands of lives from various walks of life, encouraging them to explore the claims of Christ, trust in Him, and walk with Him," says Crandall.
