Occupant Trapped As 2 Cars Collide On Route 83 In Vernon
A two-car crash in Vernon Thursday left one person temporarily trapped in a vehicle.

VERNON, CT — A two-car crash at a busy intersection in Vernon early Thursday afternoon left the occupant of one vehicle trapped.
The crash took place at about 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Talcottville Road and Merline Road. Talcottville is the local name for state Route 83.
The crash involved a pair of compact sedans. One car was on its wheels but diagonally across the intersection. One car was in the eastbound lane on its side. It had sustained heavy roof and side damage.

Firefighters were working diligently to cut an occupant out of the mangled wreckage of that car. An ambulance was waiting to take the person to an area hospital.
Police were doing their best to detour eastbound traffic through a parking lot and keep westbound traffic flowing via the shoulder.
