Officer Hurt In Wild Vernon Domestic Incident

A man spent the weekend in the lockup after a wild domestic incident in Vernon, police said.

VERNON, CT — An officer was injured and a man spent the weekend in the lockup on a high bond after a disturbance in Vernon on Friday.

Josue Francisco Algarin, 23, whose listed address is on Terrace Drive in Vernon, was to appear in court Monday to answer charges that include first- and second-degree reckless endangerment, assault on a public safety officer, interfering with police and disorderly conduct, a report indicates.

He had been held on a $250,000 since 10:39 p.m. on Friday, when he was taken into custody.

Algarin fought with police when they arrived at a domestic call on Terrace Drive, according to a report. An officer was injured in the scuffle, according to a report. The officer had minor injuries.

He tried to leave the residence in a vehicle belonging to the "victim" in a domestic incident and the victim jumped on the hood of the car to prevent him from doing so, according to a report. He tried to speed away and the victim fell off the vehicle and landed on the ground, according to a report.

Police were then called to the scene and tracked down Algarin after he abandoned the car and fled on foot, a report indicates.
