VERNON, CT — A man attacked officers when they responded to a civilian argument outside the Vernon Police Department early Christmas Day, an incident report indicates.

The incident took place at 2:02 a.m. after two people took an argument from a vehicle to the public parking lot at police headquarters, police said. When officers came outside to see what was going on, a man, identified as 37-year-old Roger Charles Haynes-Oxley, of Hartford, became confrontational toward them, according to an incident report.

The report goes on to say Haynes-Oxley began swearing, swinging his arms wildly and spinning around and, as officers tried to calm him down, he injured one of them severely enough to be taken to an area hospital.

Haynes Oxley was eventually subdued and charged with interfering with police and assault on a public safety officer, according to an incident report.
