Permit Requested For Recreational Cannabis Facility In Vernon
A former bounce house location in Vernon could be on track for a new high.

VERNON, CT — The location of a former bounce house business in Vernon could soon be on a new high with a proposal to set up a recreational cannabis establishment there.
Vernon Economic Development Director Shaun Gately Tuesday said the proposal would require the typical site plan review and a special permit. The application for the special permit has been filed, he said. The property sits at 234 Talcottville Road, the local address for that section of Route 83. Its first floor has about 9,000 square feet of space and the upper floor features about 2,000 square feet of space.
Town regulations prohibit a recreational cannabis store from locating within 3,000 feet of a school. That means the "school" must have some sort of diploma or pure educational program, Gately said. That stipulation eliminates the daycare facility currently under construction essentially across the street from throwing a wrench in the cannabis plans, Gately said.

The applicant already owns a medical cannabis store in South Windsor, Gately said.
Jagdev Toor, who also owns Lazy Liquors at 212 Talcottville Road, bought the former bounce house building over the summer. Toor had secured a special use permit to perhaps move the liquor store there, but has since begun improving the lazy liquors land, Gately said.
