Permits In, Sign Up For New Jersey Mike's In Vernon
Jersey Mike's is the latest food establishment at a commercial plaza in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — The permits are in and a sign is up for the new Jersey Mike's sub shop that is moving into the Tri-City Plaza in Vernon and its presence will add another element to the already extensive culinary offerings at the shopping center.
Vernon Community Development Director Shaun Gately said it should be a painless process. The permits call for just an interior build-out, since a food establishment is a conforming use at the 35 Talcottville Road plaza.
A sign was up this week not only announcing Jersey Mike's was "coming soon," but that it was also hiring.

Jersey Mike's will be located at Unit 24 of the plaza in the smaller strip of storefronts on the south side of the plaza in between a tax service and vision center. In a touch of irony, Jersey Mike's is taking over a vacancy formerly occupied by Weight Watchers.
It joins two other food establishments in that section — Wing Stop and Jefferson Fry Company.

With those two, plus ShopRite's fresh food section, plus Moe's Southwest Grill and the Birdcode chicken restaurant, Tri-City already has an extensive roster of eateries.
Gatey said there is not an exact timetable for the Jersey Mike's opening.
