Persistent Public Poopers Wanted For Questioning By Vernon Animal Control

VERNON, CT — A weekend social media message by Vernon Animal Control was short and not-so-sweet.

In essence, officials said, there are a couple of persistent public poopers making the rounds in town, accompanied by an overlooking overseer.

It read:

"Does anyone recognize these dogs or this male? Dog is off leash and they both are allowed to defecate on others property.Would just like to speak to him - 860-870-3558."

The message was accompanied by the aforementioned, somewhat grainy image depicting the roaming renegades.

The ordinance reads:"It shall be unlawful for any person owning, keeping, walking or in control of any dog, livestock or poultry to allow or permit such animal to defecate upon any private property owned by another person, condominium common elements, street, sidewalk, gutter or other public area unless such person shall remove all feces so deposited by such animal before leaving the immediate premises."

According to Chapter 1, Section 1-9 of the general town code penalties, violations of general town ordinances are typically subject to a $90 fine per offense. Each day that a violation continues can be treated as a separate offense.
