Picture Vernon: Historic Figure At Town Hall

VERNON, CT — The latest installment of the picture Vernon series takes us to the stairwell at Town Hall and one of the many images of the Civil War near the New England Civil War Museum and Research Center.

Capt. John M. McCall was the commander of Company K in the 8th Connecticut Regiment. He was a native of Norwich and carpenter by trade.

McCall was killed in action at the Battle of Drewry's Bluff on May 16, 1864.
