Picture Vernon: Some Vintage Documents

VERNON, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Vernon series takes us to the lobby of the local police department.

On display, along with some other artifacts, are copies of the "City of Rockville" ordinances from 1890 and the pro-used new charter, circa 1915.

Rockville and Vernon were once separate municipalities. Rockville was incorporated in 1889, and was considered a separate entity until 1965, when it was consolidated into the town of Vernon.

Most of Vernon's governmental offices are located in the Rockville section.
