Picture Vernon: When Horse Racing Was A Thing In Town
The latest installment of the picture Vernon series.

VERNON, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Vernon series takes us back to about the year 1900.
There, a horse and driver were crossing the finish line at the old Rockville Fairgrounds.
Live harness racing was a regular event at the fairgrounds track, located in the northeast part of town, according to the Vernon Historical Society. Racing fans came from across the region.
