Police Dog Tracks Down Fleeing Suspect In Vernon

A man is facing 10 charges after an altercation in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — A police dog tracked down a man running from authorities after a disturbance in Vernon and an illegal gun charge was one of 10 levied on him afterward, a report indicates.

At 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, Vernon police recieved a 911 call from a home on South Street reporting that the former boyfriend of a resident, identified as 23-year-old Keith Thomas, was creating a disturbance, a report indicates.

Thomas fled the home before officers arrived and what was described in a report as a lengthy dog track involving local and state police ensued. Thomas was found hiding nearby, according to a report.

Police found an unregistered pistol in his unregistered vehicle at the South Street home, according to a report.

  • Third-degree criminal trespass

He was to appear in court Friday after being held overnight on a $100,000 bond, records show.
