Police Nab Vegetable Oil Thieves Near Vernon Restaurant
A large white van was involved in a cooking oil caper at a Vernon restaurant, police said.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police said they intercepted a large white van with two New Yorkers inside who were trying to steal cooking oil.
At 4:18 a.m. Friday, a Vernon police officer noticed a white 2006 Ford Econoline parked behind Elmo's Dockside restaurant at 48 Hartford Turnpike. The van, which had New York registration plates, was then pulled over a short distance up the road for a moving violation, according top an arrest report.
Police then discovered stolen cooking oil, according g to an arrest report. Carlos Garcia and Emmanuel Flores, both 36 and from Yonkers, NY, were arrested and charged with possession of burglar tools, second-degree criminal trespass and fourth degree larceny.
