Vernon police and school officials are investigating 'threats' at the middle school.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police and school officials are investigating 'threats' at the middle school.
On Thursday, the Vernon Police Department responded to Vernon Center Middle School to investigate a possible threat.
It was reported that a middle school student had made a threat that involved multiple students. Another student overheard the threat and shortly thereafter it was brought to the attention of the school administration, police said.

School administrators immediately contacted Vernon police, according to a report.
Vernon Police worked with school officials to conduct a joint investigation, which determined there was no credible threat to the school, a report states.

The middle school student was referred to juvenile authorities, police said. The student’s identity is not being released due to age.
The student will face school discipline, officials said.
Vernon police and school administrators released the following statement:
"The safety and security of students is the highest priority for School and Police officials.
Vernon Police and Vernon School officials regularly collaborate to ensure our schools
remain safe environments."
