Officers tracked down an Ashford woman and threw a pair of charges at her after she left the scene of a two-car crash in Vernon on Tuesday, police said.
The rear-end collision took place on Hartford Turnpike and both cars briefly pulled into the parking lot near the bank of America branch, police said.
The car driven by Melissa Berthiaume, a 42-year-old hair stylist who lives at 97 Armitage Rd., Ashford, then left the scene, according to a police report.
Vernon police traced the plate to Berthiaume and then teamed up with state troopers to find her.
She was taken into custody at 9:30 p.m., but was "very uncooperative," police said.
Berthiaume was charged with evading responsibility and resisting arrest, police said.
She posted a $5,000 bond and was assigned a Nov. 15 court date, police said.
