Adam's Polish Food Couple Allegedly Embezzled $50k from Elderly Woman

The couple is charged with embezzling funds from the woman both before and after her death.

A Vernon couple is charged with embezzling money from an elderly woman.

Vernon Police investigated the case for two years, said Lt. William Meier, police spokesman.

An elderly woman that Adam and Teresa Gryszkiewicz cared for died in Feb. 2013 at the age of 87. It’s alleged that the couple embezzled funds from her both before and after she died.

The total amount of embezzlement believed to be in excess of $50,000.

Both the Gryszkiewiczs live live at the same address as Adam’s Polish Food. Adam is listed as the manager, according to Secretary of the State records.

The two allegedly forged checks and cashed them.

Each are charged with first-degree larceny, conspiracy for the same, six counts of second-degree forgery and six counts of conspiracy for forgery.

The two each posted $10,000 bonds and are due in court May 12.

Vernon Police along with the Tolland State’s Attorney, State of Connecticut Forensic Lab and Office of the Chief State’s Attorney investigated the matter.
