VERNON, CT — One of the most popular officers in the Vernon Police Department has retired.

Steve Langlais made it official on Friday. Colleagues, friends and family members gathered to give him a sendoff.

In his 20 years on the force, Langlais has done a lot. He was a member of the VPD Honor Guard, a school resource officer, a member of the East Central and Statewide Narcotics Task Forces, a crisis negotiator, a drone pilot, and the town's "officer friendly," who works with local students.
