Presidents Day 2026 Impacts Announced In Vernon
Monday is Presidents Day, with towns and cities across Connecticut announcing multiple impacts on services.
VERNON, CT — This Monday is Presidents Day, and several municipal impacts in town offices and schools have recently been announced.
In the Town of Vernon, all municipal departments will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of the holiday.
In addition, the Rockville Public Library will also be closed that day, town officials said.

In Vernon schools, both Monday, Feb. 16, and Tuesday, Feb. 17, are days off for students, with schools closed for Winter Recess.
The Vernon Public Works Department will close Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of Presidents Day, resulting in a one-day delay for curbside refuse and recycling pickup.

Collections normally scheduled for Monday will instead take place Tuesday, Feb. 17, alongside regularly scheduled Tuesday service, according to Dwight Ryniewicz, director of public works.
Residents with excess refuse or recycling may dispose of materials at the Vernon Transfer Station at no charge.
The facility is open year-round on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
No other service changes were announced.
