PTO, Restaurants Team Us To Treat VCMS Staff To 'Best Of' Lunch

VERNON, CT — The Vernon Center Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization and several local restaurants teamed up to treat the faculty and staff at the school to a "Best of Vernon" lunch for the holidays on Tuesday.

The idea, PTO officials said, was to give the staff a treat.

And it worked. The staff lounge was full of food that included Asian, Italian and pizza, Mexican, doughnuts, baked goods, desserts, salad and giant bags of popcorn.

Several staffers simply said "wow," when entering the room and VCMS Principal David Caruso said he never imagined that the day would include the vast varieties and amounts of food.

Many of the restaurants opened early to cook the food and some that were normally closed opened their kitchens just for the occasion.

Restaurants taking part in the day included: A1 Brick Oven Pizza, Angellino's, Between Rounds, Bianna's, China Taste, Craig's Kitchen, Dunkin' Donuts, Fiesta Mexicana, LaBrioche Bakery, Moe's, New England Pizza, Paul's Pizza, Sichuan Pepper, Simply Thai, Ninety-Nine, Vernon Diner, Wood-n-Tap and Yang Zi Jiang.
