Public Review Of Project To Restore Old Mill In Vernon On Tap
The town of Vernon will be hosting a meeting for anyone interested in the ongoing Daniel's Mill remediation and renovation work.

VERNON, CT — The town of Vernon will be hosting a "stakeholder" meeting for anyone interested in the ongoing Daniel's Mill remediation and renovation project.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17 in the Citizens Block Community

The Daniel's Mill project is part of the Rockville Mill Complex project, a program to
remediate, "repurpose and adaptively reuse" the mills for the 21st Century.
The overall project includes Daniels Mill, the former Amerbelle Mill and the former Anocoil facility.

Daniel's Mill, located at 98 East Main St., is the specific topic for the Feb. 17 meeting. Residents
can ask questions about project. Remediation of Daniel's Mill is scheduled to begin
shortly. The town has been awarded a $650,000 grant by the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency.
A licensed environmental professional will attend to address questions about the
cleanup process. Shaun Gately, Vernon’s director of development services, will answer
questions about the overall project.

The town of Vernon is working with Camden Management Partners of Atlanta, GA,
to redevelop the adjoining mills in downtown Vernon.
The site plan for the mill complex calls for 110,000 square feet of residential units,
20,000 square feet of commercial space and associated parking. A restaurant and
event space are planned for the commercial space.
"These mills are an important part of Vernon’s history and my goal is to make them an
important part of our future," Vernon Mayor Dan Champagne said. "This project will be
transformational for Vernon. We will continue to work with the state and federal
government to keep moving this project forward."
