Putting my money where my mouth is

So today, unlike other days when I would normally pick up 2 pounds of Eight O'Clock whole bean coffee at Sam's Club, I stopped at Kevin's Coffee Roasters in Vernon and purchased a pound of locally roasted coffee beans - 1/2 pound of Breakfast Blend and 1/2 pound of German Chocolate Cake. Two of my favorites!

Know what? $5.25 for a 1/2 pound of fresh, local coffee is a deal, folks. Yes, it costs a bit more - but by buying local, I'm helping a small local company stay in business. And that's good for the owner, his family, the town of Vernon, and the overall US economy.

There are many small businesses you could visit instead of the large national chains. Think before you buy. :)
