Remember to Have Fun

Growing up, we never had much money but Michele never let that stop us from having an amazing childhood. Lisa and I were so spoiled. We always got the best new clothes for back to school, had an overflowing Christmas tree each year and given money to go out to the movies, go to the arcade (Easy Street) to eat, etc. on the weekends.

That doesn’t mean we were irresponsible, I learned how to bargain shop from my aunt ;-)

I remember we would get countless Christmas gifts and Lisa and I knew that Michele would hide them in her bedroom closet. Sometimes, Lisa and I would sneak in a shake a couple of gifts, trying to guess what might be inside. One Christmas night, Michele got cookie cutters in the shape of a snow and using carpet powder (that kind you vacuum up to make it smell good) and filled them from the door to the tree making me believe it was snow from Santa’s show. Yeah… I was gullible. These were some of my fondest memories growing up.

Another thing was each year Michele would save up so we could have a vacation. We would go to all the theme parks in Orlando, go out to eat at all the coolest places, hit up all the beaches, go to the springs, Kennedy Space Center and even the Bahamas once!

You don’t have to have all the money in the world to have fun and you shouldn’t to wait. The time is NOW. And fun is important. I’m thankful my aunt taught me that important lesson and it always brought us closer together as a family and gave me memories I will never forget and tell my kids some day.

Can’t wait to visit on a couple short weeks and have some fun! Sure we will have to adapt our activities so everyone can enjoy it but we will have just as much fun doing it. No limits.
