Report: Homeless Man Threatens to Harm Himself Then Spits on Vernon Cop After Being Taken to Hospital

He also spat on a hospital staff member, police said.

VERNON, CT — A homeless man is accused of assaulting a police officer during a weekend incident in Vernon, an arrest report indicates.

Joshua King, 27, was arrested at 4:59 p.m. on Saturday for a domestic incident at 40 West Main St., police said.

As he was being booked for second-degree breach of peace, King began banging his head on a wall, saying he was going to harm himself, according to an arrest report. He had to be restrained for his own safety, police said in an arrest report.

Police took him to Rockville General Hospital and while there, King spat on an officer and a hospital staff worker, according to an arrest report.

He was then charged with interfering and assaulting an officer, police said.

King was held for the duration of the weekend on a $75,000 bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Monday, according to an arrest report.
