The Rockville High School girls soccer team is scheduled to open the season today at Southington.
The match is slated to stat at 3:45.
The Rams and Coach Jennifer Brindisi are coming off a 2011 season in which they finished writhe a record of 6-9-2 and 5-7-2 in the CCC East.
The Rams are returning a bundle of players from a year ago:
• Senior Emily Vincze, M.
• Senior Lindsey Brousseau, M.
• Senior Colleen Donohue, D.
• Senior Olivia Tani, D.
• Senior Sarah Provencher, D.
• Senior Laura Skoly, M.
• Junior Sarah Vincze, M.
• Junior Hannah Steed, D.
• Junior Michelle Correia, F.
• Sophomores Haley Hasty, M.
• Sophomore Morgan Skoly, F.
Other key players this season are seniors Bianca Dorrenhaus (D) and Erica Clayton (D), sophomores Cassidy Schmidt (M) Shelby Barnes (GK) and freshmen Sarah Kline(M) Winona Scheff (GK/D), Alexis Pariseau (D) and Allyson Witham (D).
Said Brindisi, "We have experience in the midfield with Laura Skoly, Lindsey Brousseau, Emily Vince, Sarah Vince, and Haley Hasty and that should help us to build on last year’s improvement in our attack. Last season we were without Skoly for first half of season due to transfer rules. Her presence in second half of the season was a factor in the success in the last eight games."
The biggest loss was losing all-state goalkeeper Jenny Mears to graduation.
Donohue and Provencher, a returning all-conference player, will anchor the defense, Brindidi said.
"We will need to bring some new players in to fill other positions in the back," Brindisi said.
Morgan Skoly at forward is capable of putting a lot of pressure on the opposing defense and Dorrenhaus will also contribute up front, Brindisi said.
