And the principal surprised the team with a ring-fitting.
Friday was the day the softball team received its formal accolades for winning the state Class L championship.
School officials presented Coach Frank Levick with the state championship trophy and the Rams received a commemorative championship shirt, a plaque and a letter of congratulations.
There was even a surprise at the end of the ceremony. Rockville defeated Joseph Foran High School of Milford 3-2 last Saturday to claim the Class L title.
Throughout this week, there was a buzz in the school - particularly among players and parents - if the girls would be getting championship rings.
Principal Eric Baim had played the coy administrator for four days.
Finally, as they players thought they were being dismissed for cake and pictures, he sprung the surprise on them.
"You have been talking about rings all week," he said. "Want me to buy them?"
An elated group of players and coaches then received a thunderous round of applause."
