RMS Hockey Team Picks up a Big Road Win

Roy gets a shutout against Barlow.


The Rockville/Manchester/Stafford United hockey team took on Joel Barlow at the Danbury ice arena on Monday.
 
RMS was a 4-0 winner as Matt Roy had 13 saves in goal for the shutout.

In the first period, Angus Deane scored from from Adam Graham at 6:03. Graham scored from J.R. Piretti at 10:50 and Piretti scored from Deane at 14:59.
 
After some tight penalty killing by RMS in the second, John Sellew scored from Seth Alexanderowicz at 14:53.
 
Joel Barlow goalie Jean Thierry had 42 saves.
 
RMS is now 5-8 and Joel Barlow is now 9-4. RMS's next game is on Saturday against Hall/Southington at the Bolton Ice Palace at 7:50 p.m.
 
"It was nice to pick up a win that far from home and keep us in the hunt for the state tournament," United coach Christian Stevenson said. "Time is our enemy and we still need to win three more games out the remaining six on our schedule. The story of the game was the Joel Barlow goalie stopping 42 of 46 shots."

United dropped a 7-3 road contest to North Branford over the weekend. The first goals for RMS was scored by Piretti from Alexanderowicz at 12:38 of the first.

Sellew scored two unassisted goals within 1:18 of each other in the second.  

For RMS in goal Matt Roy made 17 saves and Daelon Carnelli had eight.
