Rockville Bank's Board of Directors Names Bill McGurk Vice-Chairman Emeritus

William H. W. Crawford, IV, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rockville Bank and Rockville Financial, Inc. (RCKB), today announced that the Bank’s Board of Directors unanimously voted to name former President and CEO William J. McGurk “Vice Chairman Emeritus” of the Bank.

McGurk retired from Rockville Bank in April 2011 after 31 years as President and CEO. He retired from the Board of Directors as of May 16, 2013, the day of the Company’s annual shareholder meeting. Most recently, McGurk served as Vice Chairman of Public Affairs for the Bank. He joined Rockville Bank in 1980 as President and CEO and was elected to the Bank’s Board of Directors in 1981.

McGurk has over 30 years of commercial and thrift banking experience with Rockville and a total of more than 45 years of experience in the industry.

In addition, to appropriately mark this special announcement, the Rockville Bank Foundation will be making a contribution to the William J. McGurk Rockville Bank Scholarship that was established in his name in 2011 for students who choose to continue their education at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield. The Foundation also made a contribution to the William J. McGurk - Rockville Bank Scholarship at Manchester Community College.

“Bill McGurk has been an integral part of Rockville Bank’s nearly 155 year legacy to become Connecticut’s Best Community Bank and earn its first-class reputation for providing superior customer service. Naming him Vice Chairman Emeritus is an appropriate way for all of us to say thank you for his decades of unwavering service inside the Bank and outside it in the communities that Rockville continues to generously support,” said Crawford. “From our customers and communities to our employees and Board of Directors, we can all agree that Bill McGurk is very deserving of this unprecedented recognition he received from Rockville Bank.”

“I have personally known Bill for many years and have enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with him in my current role as Chairman of Rockville Bank’s Board of Directors. That is why I can attest to the tireless efforts and selfless contributions Bill has made not only to this Bank and our customers but to the countless community organizations he has supported over the years,” said Raymond H. Lefurge, Jr., Chairman of the Board. “The Board’s unanimous support to bestow this honor on him says a lot about Bill McGurk as a banker, as an industry expert and as a community leader.”
