Rockville High School Runners Make History At New England Indoor Meet

Ram runners made the podium twice and were named "all New England."

VERNON, CT — Rockville High School runners made history at the recent CNESSPA New England Championship indoor track and field meet in Boston.

Emmett Kristoff placed third in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:33.31.

The RHS team of Devant Bariffe, Will J. Davis, Otavio Pinto and Kristoff placed fifth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:26.31.

The performances were good for "All New England" status.

RHS coach Nicholas Willette said he had been researching the history of the Rams at the meet and could not locate another instance of two podium finishes.

Up next for the athletes is the New Balance national meet on March 13, 15 and 15, also in Massachusetts. Kristoff will be running the 800 meters (there is no 1,000-meter race at the meet) and the relay team will be participating in the medley with two legs of 200 meters, and one leg each of 400 and 800 meters.
