Rt. 83 Crash Driver May Have Been 'Impaired' Friday: Vernon Cops
Vernon police said a driver involved in a Friday crash may have been 'impaired.'

VERNON, CT — The driver of car that crashed on a busy stretch of Route 83 in Vernon Friday and tied up traffic for some time was "unresponsive" when emergency crews arrived at the scene — and it wasn't necessarily from the accident — police said Monday, citing a preliminary report.
The crash took place at 2:50 p.m. at the intersection of Hockanum Boulevard and Route 83, police said.
Route 83 was closed between Merline and Dobson roads for three hours.

One of the drivers involved was "unresponsive" when emergency crews arrived and was brought back to consciousess via "life-saving measures," according to police. He could have been "impaired" while driving, police said.
The man was then taken to Hartford Hospital voia ambulance, police said.

A police spokesman said the investigation is still open and more information will follow once it is completed. No charges had been filed as of Monday morning.
