Safety Town openings filling up fast!

The Vernon Junior Women’s Club and the Vernon Police Department are again sponsoring Safety Town for children entering kindergarten this fall. The Vernon Safety Town program, which is a one-week class where pre-kindergarten children receive safety instruction in preparation for elementary school, still has some openings in each session. The program, conducted by the VJWC, runs for 2 weeks during the summer and touches on the following areas: traffic safety, fire safety, bus safety, bicycle safety, an awareness of the dangers of poisons and medicines, and awareness of strangers. This year, Safety Town will be conducted at Lake Street School in Vernon. The sessions will be held July 8-12 and July 15-19. The morning session is 8:30am-10:30am and the afternoon session is 11am-1pm. Registration costs $20 per child. For more information or to get registration forms, call Christine Brouillard at 860-604-1919 or email cebrouillard@gmail.com.
