Salon To Occupy Longtime Commercial Vacancy In Vernon
Signs have been posted for a salon coming to a commercial vacancy on Route 30.

VERNON, CT — A new tenant has emerged for a building on Route 30 in Vernon that was notoriously left vacant in 2020.
Signs have appeared at 1135 Hartford Turnpike for Adelphia Salon. Vernon Economic Development Director Shaun Gately said he has been working with the salon owner for some time on the transition. Though no formal move-in timetable has been announced, Gately said he foresees no problems because it's a conforming use in a commercial building.
The space has sat vacant since August 2020, when Pro Eye vision center closed without warning.

"We are no longer seeing patients at 1135 Hartford Turnpike," was the message on the Pro Eye webpage. Patients were met with cones placed up to the edge of the driveway blocking the entrance and a chain stretched along the side of the driveway to further block cars.
A terse, monotone message greeted customers who called Pro Eye. The office was closed, it said, and there are "no plans as of yet to reopen."

Patients were being advised not to leave messages because the voice mail would not be checked, the message said.
