School Board Adopts Capital Plan

The plan was accepted on Monday.

A redesigned courtyard at Rockville High School, expanded parking lots at some schools, new hallway panels at Lake Street School and a new boiler system for the central office complex are among the items on the Board of Education's six-year capital expenditure plan through the 2017-18 fiscal year. 

The plan was unanimously adopted by the school board on Monday.

Here are the highlights. All costs are estimates. No bids have been solicited:

Rockville High School

• Redesign and upgrade courtyard - $125,000.
• Study to redesign and upgradecourtyard - $20,000.
• Athletic locker room renovations - $15,000.

Vernon Center Middle School

• Repave parking lots - cost estimate pending.
• Replace intercom system - $21,000.
• Replace security gates - $25,000.

Center Road School

• Expand parking lot to accommodate 20 additional vehicles - $50,000.
• Re-tube boiler No. 2 - $40,000.
• Study of brick exterior - $20,000.

Northeast School

• Replace T-12 light fixtures - Cost estimate pending.

Skinner Road School

• Resolve negative air issues - $50,000.

Lake Street School

• Expand parking lot to accommodate 20 additional vehicles - $50,000.
• Replace failing hallway panels - $75,000.

Maple Street School

• Oil tank replacement - subject to annual monitoring or natural gas conversion.

Central office

• Boiler replacement - $250,000.
